RHGNA FALL MEETING 2023

Rockville, High School, & Girls School Roads Neighborhood Association, Inc.
Serving our neighborhood since 1973
Minutes from Fall Meeting 11/16/23

The meeting was called to order by President Karen Farmer at 6:40 pm. The minutes and treasurer’s reports were read and approved. Introductions were made with special acknowledgment to our veterans many of whom were present. What followed was a lengthy and lively discussion about the status of the recent decision by INDOT to 6 lane Rockville Road. It was agreed that INDOT is going to steam roll over us with no concern for the damage they would do to our homes, safety, noise level, or anything else. Anna Peay had done research into requesting a possible fraud investigation from the Federal Highway Admin (FHWA) regarding INDOT’s selective use and interpretation of the data that it spoon feeds the (FHWA). It would appear that INDOT praises the project as a means to improve traffic and safety, while completely ignoring the federal guidelines that it must follow in order to receive federal funds. Nothing definitive has been done at this time, but Anna has written Representative Andre Carson’s office and asked for his help. Our best option at this time is to try to delay the project in hopes that the funding for it will expire which could be as soon as Sep. 2026. The group was asked to please volunteer to assist with research, reading, etc.

Carol Barker discussed the RHGNA facebook page. It is listed as a private Facebook site, RHGNA, and open to any resident within the RHGNA boundaries. Charlie Scott is the administrator, and both he and Carol post frequent information and updates on the page. She also went over the new website, RHGNAIndy.org and encouraged everyone to use it. Eventually we will eliminate the two annual newsletters which are very costly, in favor of this communication venue. If you haven’t done so already, please share your email address with the RHGNA for future updates and alerts. Dennis Poteet gave an update on the recent crime watch meeting. He shared the name of the group: “Westlake Grade School area crime watch”.

Karen made a motion that the RHGNA give Westlake Church of God $100.00 for the use of their meeting room. Phyllis Lewis and Phil Casey both seconded it, and the motion was passed. The group was asked for nominations for officers for 2024. There were no nominations or volunteers. Dennis Poteet asked that the nominations be closed since there were none. This was unanimously accepted, and the current board will remain in place. Karen Farmer, (President) – Dennis Poteet, (V.P.) Anna Peay, (Secretary), and Carol Barker, (Treasurer).

Karen adjourned the meeting at 8:30.
Respectfully submitted by secretary, Anna Peay
